With their mantra of lower taxes and moral posturing the Republicans have managed to convince poor uneducated people that they hold their best interests at heart. It has of course always been ironic that the Republicans, party of the rich, have always been able to successfully characterize Democrats as out of touch latte sipping snobs. Par example, the Republicans have been beating up on Obama, a self made man that worked really hard to get to where he is, for his taste for arugula. GASP!!! ARUGULA! Elitist! Real people don't eat arugula! Only foreign freedom fry hating people eat arugula. Of course this is patently ridiculous. Everybody should eat arugula, especially on top of thin crust California Kitchen type pizza's. Now, these are the arguments coming from an uber wealthy guy that now it seems can't seem to remember how many homes he has. If a candidate who thinks having 3 million dollars in your bank account is middle class and owns more homes than he count is playing the Democrats are snobs card, well I just don't know how much more calling the kettle black you get. The Democrats have a HUGE opening here and I hope they pounce on it. Sounds like Obama already is:
"Campaigning in Chester, Va., Obama told voters, "I guess if you think being rich means you've got to make $5 million and if you don't know how many houses you have, it's not surprising you might think the economy is fundamentally strong." He returned to the McCain remark later, saying of teachers: "Most teachers hold themselves accountable. They didn't go into teaching to make money. They don't have seven houses."
